Shaler Barnes loves to make people happy. As much as Shaler enjoys diving into the details of home preparation and sales negotiations, at the end of the day it’s the smiles on the faces of her clients that keep her going.

Her background in the legal field (Cooley Godward) and in tech marketing (Sun Microsystems) uniquely prepared her for success when she moved into real estate in 2004. Her legal brain kicks into gear whenever she has a stack of important documents to review, or a contract to sign. And Shaler’s marketing expertise comes into play every time she’s positioning a house to present it to the world and strategizing over the best way to get the word out.

While a lot of Shaler’s business is with clients listing their homes for sale, primarily in Portola Valley, Ladera and Menlo Park neighborhoods, she still thrills at being able to help first time buyers up and down the Peninsula. There’s nothing to compare to the moment when new homeowners cross the threshold for the first time.

Shaler is an active member of the Alpine Hills Tennis & Swimming Club and is very engaged in the Menlo Park school community where she and her husband have raised their three daughters.
